Pure H2O Co. Purifiers Remove Plastic Fibres Found in UK Tap Water
Recent news about plastic fibres and microplastics contaminating UK tap water needn’t concern Pure H2O Co. customers. All models of our Purity water purifiers remove plastic particles.
Researchers recently found that billions of people globally are drinking water contaminated by plastic particles.(1) Whilst the UK has amongst the lowest levels of plastics contamination, 72% of samples of UK tap water have been found to contain plastic fibres.
“We’ve known about this problem for over 20 years and have developed water treatment systems which, using the Reverse Osmosis process, remove 100% of plastic particles from tap water”, says Pure H2O Co. M.D. Roger Wiltshire.
In fact, the Reverse Osmosis process is the only suitable method of reducing these contaminants.
Dr Anne Marie Mahon at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, who conducted the research, says:
“We don’t know what the [health] impact is and for that reason we should follow the precautionary principle…”.(2)
As if ingesting plastic fibres was not bad enough, research on wild animals has shown that microplastics attract bacteria and absorb toxic chemicals which are then released into the body once ingested.
Water treatment plants clearly aren’t capable of removing plastic fibres, let alone microplastics. Bottled water is not the solution – samples tested in the US also showed plastic contamination. Added to which, the manufacture, distribution and disposal of plastic bottled water is highly damaging to the environment.
Whilst experts call for urgent research on the health implications of plastic water contamination, you can take action today to protect your and your family’s health. Install a Pure H2O tap water purifier; any of our 3 models remove 100% of plastics along with all the other contaminants and impurities found in tap water including petrochemical derivatives, hormones, medications and pesticides.
