Myth Busting: Minerals
Minerals and RO / RODI Pure Water
The question about minerals in water is a good one and much misunderstood, so it’s a topic we return to from time to time. As we recently received an enquiry via Facebook we thought we’d have look at the question people often ask: ‘Do I need to add minerals back into my water after purifing it with my RO or RODI system?”. The short answer is: no. To learn why, read on…
Water has never been a source of minerals to our bodies and it never will be. We’ve been led to believe we can benefit from minerals in water through suggestive marketing of bottled water companies. It is infact a complete fallacy. First water contains very few minerals and if they were beneficial we’d drown before we drank enough to be of any help to the body. Second, the minerals in water are inorganic (dissolved rock) and not a food that can be assimilated in the intestine.
As humans we absorb organic minerals from the vegetables we eat and this is how we’ve evolved. Plants on the other hand draw up water that may have inorganic minerals and with the help of microbes on the roots and photosynthesis, converts them into an organic mineral. This is where we derive our minerals from and in quantities that can never be found in water.
Water has 5 important functions in the body; a transportant, a lubricant, a coolant, for excretion and the 5th function – that of an electronegative enhancer. If water carries a load (salts, inorganic minerals, toxins etc) then it cannot be used to effectively carry out these functions and the body goes into overdrive. We see the degenerative effects of polluted water manifested in many illness such as kidney disease, arthritis, hardened heart muscle, blocked arteries, stroke (where calcium falls away from cholesterol and passes through the arteries to the brain). Dr Venter, the worlds leading DNA scientist actually stated that calcium is 3 times more likely to cause a stroke than cholesterol.
Water, especially processed (tap) can of course carry micro-organisms, pathogens and viruses. The only way to remove these is through the process of RODI (reverse osmosis coupled to deionization). Today we have the added problem of Metaldehyde (slug poison) that exceeds the legal limits in our tap water and cannot be removed by water utilities processing plants. Your RODI system does of course remove 100% of the problem along with all other pesticides, herbicides and disease causing micro-organisms.
Processed water has been definitively linked to cancers, proven in a US study on Texas where the vast majority of drinking water is processed and cancer rates twice that of other states.
If we derived minerals from our drinking water then it would follow that areas of the UK where drinking water contains very low levels of dissolved minerals (this would be from Birmingham up to the Highlands) would have health problems. Quite the opposite is infact the case. We have the longest life expectancy in the UK in areas of Cheshire and Scotland, not in the South where hard water (dissolved inorganic calcium) is at its highest. What we do see in the South of England is high levels of kidney disease – up to 100,000 sufferers every year, all of whom could have avoided the problem by drinking a clean source of pure water (not my words but those of the Director of the National Kideney Association).
Water in it’s purest form has some quite remarkable health properties. We all know the sense of a good well balanced diet that includes plenty of fruit and vegetables, pulses, lean meats, fish and cereals. Today the NHS have, for the first time stated that our diet has a direct influence on our health and we are far less likely to contract cancers or other diseases if we follow a healthy lifestyle. We know from the thousands of clients we have that they only benefit from drinking pure water – no one ever suffers adverse effects.
We have confirmation from a client in Oxford (hard water area) that drinking PureH2O has cured his Crohn’s Disease. We have confirmation from a client in Barnes, London that drinking PureH2O was essential part of a lifestyle change (to organic vegetables, healthy food and Pure H2O) that cured his (terminal) cancer. We have a lady in Sussex (hard water area) who claims that her son’s autism saw a marked improvement when tap water was substituted with Pure H2O. Studies carried out in Surrey University found that PureH2O lowers blood pressure and cholesterol. The list goes on an on and it’s not just in the UK; clients around the globe tell us how Pure H2O improved their health.
Claims that purified RO water needs to be remineralised for health have absolutely no medical foundation whatsoever. These claims come from companies trying to sell alkalisers or different water treatment systems that, despite the claims, can have serious and adverse health effects not positive benefits. We’ve even seen this first hand where a client in London purchased an alkaliser only to end up with chronic stomach pains and passing blood. The rest of his family refused to drink from this device and none of them suffered the same symptoms; they stuck to Pure H2O.
If I may offer you my own account I think you’ll find it interesting:
I have personally drunk RODI water for 25 years in the UK as have my extended family and friends’ families. As a result we completely defy National Health Statistics; we have no illness whatsoever and never suffer from annual norivirus (I believe its transmitted in municipal water). We rarely get colds (I had the first one in 20years in Jan 2015 but it only lasted 2.5 days). My children have never consumed tap or bottled water containing minerals and they are the picture of health. One of my children (now 12) has an academic scholarship (he also takes pureh2o to school and refuses to touch tap water). He’s in every team sport that his school plays and top of almost every subject (yes, quite sickening) so his health is as good as it gets. I’ve always purchased organic food wherever possible and I ensure (sometimes bribe) my children to eat vegetables every day. They also get plenty of cake and treats (ideally organic but not always).
So, what I’m saying is that I am living proof that drinking Pure H2O is perfectly normal, safe and by far the healthiest type of water we can consume. That means no minerals, no disease causing microbes, no toxins, no slug poison, no drug residues (such as oestrogen), no heavy metals, no chemical compounds (such as 2D4 from flame retardant industry), just good clean Pure H2O – that’s the only type of water I drink and I’m fit and healthy; no illness, no deficiencies and it’s therefore what I recommend to my clients. I have nothing to gain financially from telling people to add minerals to their water but I could very easily jump on the band waggon and say yes, we’ll sell you a mineral filter (£39) but I honestly cannot recommend it because I know your health will be better without it.
I trust that this will answer your questions about minerals in water.
